With a pandemic throwing a wrench in our club hosting plans, we wanted to find a way to give our work another meaning. Especially in times as uncertain as these, we felt it was more necessary than ever to give our community something tangible to hold on to. And thus: KLAUW mag was born. This new project not only enabled us to continue to adhere to our original goal of giving creatives a platform. But it also allowed us to still engage with our audience, to showcase what our community has in store and tell stories from our own unfiltered perspectives.
So far we have published two issues that are available in our webshop. All profits are used to further expand the KLAUW foundation.
Magazine
We might not have been able to get together in the club for a minute, but we were still determined to stay connected to you in one way or another. So we figured a magazine might be a good way to do it. KLAUW mag #2 is your not so gentle reminder that our community is still very much here, and still pretty damn queer. May this mag give you a fuzzy feeling of togetherness.

This magazine is carefully created by our community for our community, something that we donβt see very often. We worked alongside amazing Queer/BPOC writers, photographers and artists. And everyone in our team only has one goal: To unite the Queer/BPOC community in one way or another.

After two years of organising in different living rooms, work spaces and parks we were ready to have a place of our own. A home base where we work, host and invite a new generation of creatives. And where they are free to create, collaborate, exhibit or to just come and have a drink with us.

During the last song at the last Gender Bending Queer party in 2018 we collectively shared a look and were sure of one thing. After the last song played at Gender Bending Queer Party we felt slightly panicked because letβs be honest: Rotterdam canβt survive without a queer club night. Where else were we supposed to go? Our decision to take matters into our own hands gave rise to KLAUW collective and the accompanying club nights.
All we set out to do is create in an as safe as possible a place where outcasts in all senses of the word could come and celebrate their identities public space β¨
Our club nights are held at WORM Rotterdam
KLAUW cannot be defined by a particular sound. From techno to house, from jungle to breaks, from hyperpop to deconstructed club, we celebrate all music styles and genres while having a special place in our heart for Middle eastern and North African (MENA) producers and artists who produce new sounds in electronic music. After all, what KLAUW does best is to combine those identities and categories that are seen in normative spaces as mutually exclusive.
Besides offering a platform and guidance to upcoming talent, we also try to create as many spaces for them as we can. Whether that be our usual club nights or hostings at other locations where we curate and programme.
